One of the most musically interesting genres of Electronic Dance Music is
Psychedelic Trance or "Psy Trance" for short. Psy Trance evolved out of two famous
EDM genres -  Goa and Trance. Trance is considered to be one of the most famous EDM genres

having its roots in Europe and Asia. One famous trance artists, DJ Tiesto, had a concert in Spain
with over a million attendees. (This exemplifies the vast sphere of influence EDM, especially trance,
has in modern Western society.) To many EDM enthusiasts, the sound of Trance music can be described
as harmonious, slower paced, more vocal, and easy to dance to. The bass in trance, which
oftentimes characterizes EDM into it's genres, is slower than the other genres at under 120 BPM, or
beats per minute. Goa is a sub-genre of trance with its roots coming from Goa - a small vacation city
oftentimes depicted as the Cancun of India. The music, although mostly electronic, has many sounds from

instruments used in Arab and Indian culture. The songs are often much longer than those from the
House, Breakbeat, and Euro Dance genres because all the different sounds from several instruments
build up on each other; there is little to no vocals in Goa. Goa has become popular in the United States
because of its unique sound inspired by foreign culture. Psychedelic Trance has combined aspects from both

of these genres to become one of the most popular sub-genres of EDM. Psychedelic Trance artists
have performed at many places around the world including Israel, Australia, Russia, Brazil and countless others
with hundreds of thousands of attendees. An Israeli artist, infected Mushroom, one the biggest names
in psy trance regularly tours the United States.

What I'm listening to:

Cities of the Future - Infected Mushroom
DMT - Shpongle
Juice - GMS
Love of My Life - Dali
Mescaline - 1200 Micrograms

Response to a fellow student's blog...

I have been stalking Patricia Byron (http://patbyron.blogspot.com/).

KIDDING!

I like reading about other people's lives, and everyone's seems so much simpler than mine sometimes. If I wasn't trying to support myself and a ten-month old. If I wasn't living five hours away from my friends and family. If I had made better choices, I might have already passed this class twicefold and moved forward with a degree of some sort. I don't know.
